After the crisis: Is the luxury market growing again? - Answers from HUGO BOSS AG

Many high class labels have reported growth rates for the first six months of 2010. The stock price of Hermès rose by 31 per cent, Burberry’s shares by 37 per cent. The German fashion house HUGO BOSS is also back on track: its retail sales grew by 25 per cent and group net income improved by 31 per cent. The company's stock price rose by 30 per cent and thus clearly outperformend the MDAX development during the first six months of 2010. For the second quarter HUGO BOSS announced a 7 per cent increase of total net sales and a good performance of the brand throughout all distribution channels.

Claus-Dietrich Lahrs joined HUGO BOSS AG in 2008 and serves as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. He looks back on a successful international career in the luxury goods industry. When he moved from Paris to Metzingen, HUGO BOSS AG faced difficult times due to the global financial and economic crisis. In a guest lecture at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, he will give an insight into the measures he took to overcome these challenges.
