The most frequently asked questions

  • Where can I change my email address?
You can change your email address under "Home → Edit Profile → Contact details → Email addresses". Please be aware that you must re-confirm the contents of your profile once you have made your changes for security reasons. You will then receive an email sent to your new email address. Please click on the link in the email to confirm the changes.
  • I have forgotten my login data - what can I do?
If you're not sure which email address you used to sign up to XING with, just check the address to which we send you messages such as our weekly newsletter.

If you've forgotten your password, just click on "Forgotten password?" which appears below the login field.

If you can't access your email address any more, please provide the following information which we need to make sure you're the profile owner:

    - Date of birth
    - Name of the person who invited you (if applicable)
    - Your business address
    - Address listed in your profile
    - Phone number in your profile
    - The last four digits of your bank account/credit card number (Premium members)
    - Your new/current email address

Please also let us know whether we should add your current email address to your profile and/or whether you would like to receive a new password.

    Go to contact form.
  • What are contacts and contact requests?
Contacts on XING are members who have added one another as contacts. A contact only becomes active once the person you have added as a contact confirms this contact. In the same way, somebody may add you as a contact, which you then have to confirm in order to create this contact. To add someone as a contact, simply go to their profile and click on the "Add as contact" icon in the top right-hand corner. Please bear the "Wants" and "Haves" of this person in mind and consider sending them a personal message when sending contact requests. The member you send a request to will be notified so they can either accept or deny your contact request.
  • What are 2nd level contacts?
2nd level contacts are the immediate contacts of your contacts.
  • Why do my contacts disappear?
There are two reasons why your contacts might disappear from your profile:
    1. This person has deleted your contact and was thus also deleted from your list of contacts.
    2. This person is no longer a member of XING.
  • What is the username?
To find out your user name, go to "Settings" (the cog symbol in the left sidebar) followed by "Login data".

When logging into XING, you can also enter your user name in the "Email" box instead of the email address you used to sign up to XING.
  • How can I manage my Premium Membership details?
For information about your current membership status, go to "Home > Premium membership". If you're a basic member you can go there to upgrade to a Premium membership.

Your membership term is available on your invoices which you can view by going to "Settings" (the cog symbol in the left sidebar) > "Invoices & Accounts".

There you can also view and edit your billing details by clicking on "Premium Billing".

Please note that any changes you make will not apply to existing invoices. Edit Premium membership, edit billing details, edit invoice, go Premium, view invoice
  • Are my personal contact details visible to members and visitors?
All of the data with a padlock is only available if you shared it with that specific contact.

You can also prevent people from finding your profile outside of XING by clicking on "Settings (cog symbol in the left sidebar) > Privacy" and then removing the check in the "Make my profile visible to non-members" box.

If you log out and then visit your own profile you'll no longer be able to see any personal details and a lot of the other fields will be hidden or only contain limited information. privacy, data protection, security, management, protection, padlock, profile, address, phone, email, cell
  • I receive an error message during registration
If you receive an error message during the registration process, please check what it says. Maybe you missed out a field or filled in one incorrectly?

XING automatically checks whether the email address you enter is valid to make sure your registration email actually reaches you.

If you've checked all of the fields and are still getting an error message, please feel free to contact our Support team.
  • How can I change my basic personal info?
Your basic personal info includes your first name, last name, gender and academic degree and title if applicable. You can edit this data at "Home → Settings → My personal data“. Please keep in mind that most changes have to be approved: only your academic degree and title can be changed by pressing the save button.
Changes to names and genders have to be manually approved by the XING support team. Click on the "Save" button once you have made your changes. You will be notified by email as soon as your request has been approved.
