About me and personal information

  • What is the "About me" page?
    You can include additional information about yourself on the "About me" page. You can use this page, for example, to display your CV, your personal homepage or projects that you would like to present to your customers. This page can be created in HTML format.
  • How can I change my basic personal info?
    Your basic personal info includes your first name, last name, gender and academic degree and title if applicable. You can edit this data at "Home → Settings → My personal data“. Please keep in mind that most changes have to be approved: only your academic degree and title can be changed by pressing the save button.
    Changes to names and genders have to be manually approved by the XING support team. Click on the "Save" button once you have made your changes. You will be notified by email as soon as your request has been approved.
  • What kind of information should I enter in the "Personal information" section?
    In the "Personal information" section of your contact_details ">profile, you can enter things you want (such as new sales channels, clients, experts in solar technology, creativity) and things you have (such as experience in project management, linux, contacts). You can also enter information on your private or professional interests, and on organizations (such as WWF, NAACP, New York Bar Association) you're a member of or were involved with in the past.
    This information serves as a brief summary of yourself, and allows potential clients or partners to find you using the Powersearch on XING.

    This information is optional. We do recommend, however, that you fill in these fields as completely as possible, using keywords. This makes your profile more complete, and increases the chance that you'll be found by the right people.
    Just click on the "Edit" button to make changes to these fields. Make sure to save your changes when you're finished.
  • Can I add photos to the "About me" section of my profile?
    Yes you can, but they can only be added from an external web server or online photo album such as Picasa, Flickr, Photobucket, etc.

    These providers will supply you with a link (URL) to your photo which you can then add to the about me section of your profile by clicking the photo symbol.
