Hello,
SUN RFID API is not more then a limited set of classes and interfaces where can be used as starting point. This is a set of standards (EPC Network) translated in java)...I am looking forward for the next version ...
On top you need to implement drivers, back-end communication, storage mechanisms and processing...
SUN RFID API is just a framework (design) and not a middleware...
BTW: the SUN API is available only in Solaris (lately RedHat Linux)
Aditional hardware costs...
Other frameworks:

i2

Other vendors
ConnecTerra, GlobeRanger, IBM, Manhattan Associates, Microsoft, OATSystems, Oracle, RF Code, SAP, Savi Technology, Sun Microsystems,TIBCO Software, and webMethods
There is also an evaluation of RFID Middleware here (for a fee)

Best regards,
Catalin B.
P.S. my personal impresion is that cost more 100k without the hardware and ERP

Hello,
Yes you are right, sometimes RFID hardware introduces new features (ex. sensors, special filtering) that are needed in the Business Processing, so could be that Middleware will not hide the RFID hardware completely...
Regarding costs we need to add 2 more costs:
1- RFID hardware maintenance (new network infrastructure, reders, tags, antenas...)
2- Personal costs with new ROLES in the company...
etc...
Best regards,
Catalin B.

Dear Mr. Hasani,
have you have heard of the Oracle Edge Server? It is part of the 10g Oracle Internet Application Server and can be used as middle tier in RFID-Applications.
We are certified Oracle Partner and can giv special prices for Oracle ASFU-Licenses (Application Specific Full Use) so that for License Costs it should be possible to be much lower than 100k.
Best regards,
Martin Geisenhainer.
