Hi all,
I've been a member of the ACM ever since I studied at the University of Karlsruhe (long time ago;-), I even once co-lead the local ACM student chapter with Stephan Haenssgen at the University of Karlsruhe.
It's good to be back in touch and to see what current activities are like.
By way of background, I studied computer science at UCCC in the US, in Cambridge, UK, in Passau and eventually received my M.Sc. in Karlsruhe. I then continued and received a Ph.D. (Dr.-Ing.) at the institute for distributed computing in Karlsruhe.
Having dabbled enough in computer science, I then joined Booz-Allen & Hamilton, doing strategy consulting work across Europe. While this was a thoroughly enjoyable experience, both in being intellectually challenging and stimulating and working with a great team at Booz-Allen, the lifestyle was terrible. Therefore I moved to join 3i, a British venture capital and private equity as senior executive, and spent the next years doing mostly early stage VC investments and a few Management Buyouts.
At this point, I had taught CS, consulted companies, invested in entrepreneurs and companies, but never had a real job;-) So I joined BEA Systems in sales to lead business consulting for Central and Eastern Europe. After a short and intense period there, I joined SAP Ventures to lead Europe and Israel as a region.
So I now have the incredible pleasure of working with entrepreneurs around Europe and Israel and helping them grow their companies.
Best,
Jörg
