    November Newsletter AGBC Heidelberg Rhein-Neckar

    Review
We were really excited to have Dr. Klaus Wünnemann provide the presentation following the October luncheon. As he is Director of the Heidelberg Zoo, it was a ripping and roaring success. Klaus is an excellent speaker and enlightened everyone as to how our efforts in Heidelberg are “cutting-edge” in the development of successful bio-diversity in this region.

    Upcoming
In addition, the Heidelberg Zoo is celebrating its 75th anniversary on 12 November. The celebration of this anniversary will be at 1800 at Heidelberg’s Stadthalle, courtesy of Dr. Wünnemann.

Our November meeting is coming up soon with no less a personality than Dr. Klaus Plate, CEO of the Heidelberg Technology Park. Dr. Plate has been a lawyer and judge since 1972. He has been Director of the Department of General Administration and Economic Development for the city of Heidelberg since 2007. He was the International President of the Association of Science and Technology Parks and a member of the Steering Group of the Council of European BioRegions.
Dr. Plate has been the CEO of our Technology Park since 1994. He has been the driving force for the development and evolution of this marvelous park through all these years to its leading position today. We are excited to have Dr. Plate return to address our AGBC and tell us of this development.

Finally, I happily remind you again of our world famous Christmas banquet, which will be held on Friday evening, the 4th of December, at the Herrenmühle Restaurant on the Hauptstrasse in Heidelberg. We have a great menu of Weinachtsgans with all of the delicious things attendant thereto. We will be meeting across the street, sort of collecting at the Glühwein tent for the ice skating rink, at Karlsplatz (above Parkhaus 13) any time after 1900 hours. At about 2000, we’ll proceed approximately 50 meters up the Hauptstrasse to the restaurant to start our Christmas feast. We really hope you elect to join; however, you will receive a separate, proper invitation to this in the next unit of time.

This is a great month for celebration, 20 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall, 60 years since the origin of NATO, remembering our democracy, prosperity, and so many other fundamental reasons to just have fun.

    Enjoy your day.
    Barry E. Swanson, CFP
    President AGBC
