    Greetings & Guten Tag!
    Hello fellow Agilists!

My name is Ant Grinyer and I've been working in the software industry for nearly 15 years. I've worked as a developer, architect, manager, and currently as a business analyst, however I'm moving into a new role soon as software process architect.

I have a passion for software development, particularly methodologies and thus am a strong advocate for ways that work, for me and from my experience, that's agile methods. I've worked as a developer and coach in several teams that have had a lot of success with Scrum and XP.

I help run an agile methods interest group in the UK called AgileNorth ( http://www.agilenorth.net/ ) I'm currently Treasurer. Furthermore, I'm pursuing a part-time PhD with the Open University in England. My research interests are empirical and evidence-based software engineering, agile methods, and technology adoption. It's hard work with a fulltime job, but very rewarding. I'm currently at the data gathering stage looking at factors that influence the adoption of agile methods in organisations through survey - if anyone wants to participate (I'd very grateful!) please fill in the short survey here:

Bare with the scaled questions (the agree / disagree questions). Thanks!

I'm an active member of many agile groups and was advised to join this group. I presented at XP2007 in Como, Italy last year, which was an excellent opportunity to meet the leading advocates such as Kent Beck and Jutta Eckstein ... I also had a chat and picture taken with Mary Poppendieck, which was an honour! :-)

Very much looking forward to contributing to the group and will report my survey research findings to the group if we get any participation from the members in this group.

As stated earlier, I'm moving into a new process architect role soon which includes helping my organisation achieve CMMI level 3 using agile practices - it should be a big challenge! I'll report results to the group as and when it happens.

    Kind Regards,
    Ant
