    Introduction
    Dear All
Please allow me to introduce myself. I am interested in networking with consultants working in the development field in Africa. I am a Civil Society development Expert and Human rights lawyer with extensive experience in civil society, democracy and governance issues in Southern Africa. I also do have experience in EU consultancies. Regarding civil society development, my work has focused on the following 5 key areas designed to assist NGOs to better deliver.
    1. Capacity building training for NGOs/training needs analysis. Establishing and strengthening Community based organisations which due to their unique structures generally operate very differently from mainstream NGOs and have different capacity building needs.
    2. Drafting of civil society legislation and self regulation mechanisms. Research into legislation that enable public participation within Southern African parliaments
    3. Project monitoring and evaluation/Project design
    4. Facilitating dialogue between NGOs and parliamentarians and improving state civil society relations/ basically formulating strategies to create an enabling environment within which civil society can operate.
    5. Organizational evaluations. Organizational pre-funding risk analysis for donors to ensure that organisations that do receive funding are indeed legitimate and able to deliver.
I previously worked as a Manager, Policy& Research at the National Association of Nongovernmental organizations (NANGO) in Zimbabwe where my main role was to design and implement strategies to improve and create an enabling environment for NGOs to operate in Zimbabwe and to provide capacity building within the sector by researching and designing appropriate courses to meet the needs gaps. I also have a lot of experience in policy analysis
I worked as a lawyer since 1996. I am experienced in civil and criminal litigation, legal drafting and analysis. I have also worked as a public prosecutor. I hold an LLB (Hons) degree and an LLM in International Human Rights. Regarding human rights issues, my work has revolved around monitoring of human rights abuses and work around children in conflict with the law.
I am currently working as the Managing Consultant for NGO Consultancy Africa, a consulting firm that deals with civil society issues such as capacity building, M&E and general consultancy within the NGO sector. One of our main activities is providing training to civil society groups in areas such as public participation, corporate governance, strategic planning and monitoring and evaluation. My resume is available on request.

    Re: Introduction
    Dear Tamuka,

what are you actually looking for, what do you mean by networking?

I am a consultant, who studied law and economics and has worked for about 30 years now in development work (as a desk officer in a large donor organisation as well as a freelance consultant). I did work in Tansania for about 2,5 year, more than 20 years back, and later on on shorter missions in Africa. The main assignments were in Eastern Europe and Palestine (economic development and partly juducuary).

I would very much appreciate to work in English speaking Africa again, the French part would also be possible. And I am looking for short- to medium term assignments and first of all interdisciplinary, cross cutting projects, studies, evaluations etc. (legal, economic and politics).

Is there a way how I could support your effort and you the mine.

    Regards
    Eduard
