I came across a statement "All devices designed for AUTOSAR (AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture)" at http://www.st.com/stonline/products/families/automotive/micr.... I want to know what makes ST to make a statement like this since i thought any controllers meant for automotive application with good memory in size and has all peripherals those can support BSW of Autosar could also be called as devices for AUTOSAR. Please provide your comments.

    Hello Manjunath,

I don't know what exactly they had in mind when they mentioned " All devices designed for AUTOSAR".
But as per my undrstanding they might meant that the Device Drivers are Autosar Compliant.

    Hello Manjunath,

in my personal opinion, it is at the moment important for semiconductor manufacturers to show to the automotive world something like: "AUTOSAR ? For sure, yes we can...!"
So writing on a web page "Designed for AUTOSAR" might be also something like are marketing buzz word.
I'm sure, that ST's µC is able to run the AUTOSAR SW, but really especially designed for AUTOSAR? I have my doubts...
Looking into a ST spec, you will fine this:

"All products are designed to fulfill AUTomotive Open System ARchitecture requirements.
Available AUTOSAR packages include MCAL, basic software, OS, configuration tools and on-site support"

If you like to dig deeper, you have to understand the AUTOSAR requirements and compare it with the ST µC to countercheck whether these requirements are fulfilled...

    Regards
    Josef
