In this day and age, everyone is busy. It doesn’t matter what industry someone is in. For most people, they just have too many things on their plate and their life is crowded by too many events and responsibilities. More often that not, work life encroaches with their personal space and it is a lucky few who has the energy left to deal with non-work related issues.
Still, there is always hope. With correct time-management, people should be able to achieve both their personal and professional goals. Time management skills can be learned and with it, one will be able to reap the benefits of having more time to do what they want, better health, better productivity, less stress, better productivity and more improved efficiency.
Julie-Ann Amos, author of “Manage Your Time” urges people to learn how to spend time on results and not on effort. She advises that people spend time actually achieving things since this is what motivates people to work better. Unfortunately, most people just put in more hours and effort without realizing that more work doesn’t necessarily mean more success. It is therefore better for people to work smart and not hard. They should focus on more productive aspects of their work that yield the most results.
One also has to learn to set limits. Otherwise, you will not be able to manage your time well. You need to look at all your tasks, know what you need to make time for, detect which tasks can be delegated to other people, and which to reject outright.
If you want to learn better time management, you should look closely at “what you do” and “how you do it”. In time, you should be able to tell the difference between efficiency and effectiveness, as well as important and urgency. Remember, time is not your enemy. It is just a question of learning how to manage time properly.
