Dear members of Xing Campaigning Group
It has become quite quiet around this group. I even received a message that the group is facing deletion if nothing else happens in the near future. Having tried several times to initiate discussions I am now trying another approach: to discuss a possible fusion of this group with pro:campaigning, the international professional campaigners association.
At pro:campaigning we are trying to find a way to enable our members to exchange their experience and learnings across continents, as we have members in Austria, Germany, USA and Switzerland. Our regular meetings in Zurich are useful for people of here only. (When we meet, one person explains a certain problem she or he has and the others work out strategies and tactics to solve this problem. Everybody can learn from this and the person delivering the topic receives free "consulting". Sometimes we invite interesting speakers.)
But all other members can't participate in this kind of experience exchange.
The board thought last year that a wiki could offer an adequate platform to solve this problem. We created a wiki where I started to write about modern tools and campaigning techniques, thus starting to offer a knowledge base which members can use and to which they can contribute (Web2.0). However, this has come to a halt again, as I didn't have enough time next to my jobs to be enough of a driving force. We are currently discussing how we could re-organize our association, our meetings and the wiki to gain enough momentum, and I would like to invite you to participate in this discussion.
Do we need to pay someone to be the driver? If not, how can we re-organize so that enough members make valuable contributions to the knowledge base and discussion forums?
Would you become a member of pro:campaigning, considering the annual fee of 320 Euro? If not, what would you expect, to become a member?
You can find a link to the wiki at the end of this message and apply for a trial membership, so that you can see what it is about. But, considering my workload, please, be patient if you request isn't answered within a few hours. And when you are inside the wiki, please, consider that it's still under construction. There is a lot of work to be done yet.
I am looking forward to your answers.
Best regards
