What is the function of design in a portal?
I will hold a presentation at an HR ESS/MSS forum in berlin next week on this topic.

Most users are not interested whether the screen background is dark blue or light blue, but they want to understand the iterface.
As portals are understood as integration and access layer, design is key for usability.
