Integrity and Focus
Moral integrity is a subject often written about but never really defined. Right and wrong are certainly aspects of morality but are not often defined in terms of what gets one into that situation of making the choice and in how does one extricate oneself from the results or process. Right and wrong in my terms is not so much the obvious, but as I always say “if you cannot or do not wish to do work for a client then say so”. Too often consultants take on projects that are beyond them and they then hope for results. Every project should stretch ones abilities but honesty in what can and cannot be done (what and by whom) is crucial for long term consulting business success.
Bill Liao in his recent article on the ideas page, titled: Integrity and Focus, reflects on moral integrity and work focus. Bill, co-founder of XING, is a successful entrepreneur and business leader.
