collectd -- the system statistics collection daemon

collectd is a powerful tool to efficiently collect and store performance data. The collected information can be used to find current performance bottlenecks (performance analysis) and predict future system load (capacity planning). collectd specialized on collecting these information. At the same time, it provides interfaces which allow interaction and integration with other software.

collectd is an OpenSource UNIX daemon which periodically collects and stores system performance data in a variety of ways. Through its modular design it is very flexible in the way it may be used. By running as a daemon without calling external scripts, it is very efficient and allows for a default resolution of 10 seconds.
