When organising a corporate event, are you trying to do it yourself, or are you hiring a professional event manager?
What are the PROs and CONs of either way?

Hi Andreas,
Truly from a professional standpoint obviously the allocation of budget for your event tends to lead into the DIY approach which is fine for some companies but ends up being disastrous for others.
I believe if your staff is not inundated with the actual content for the event and they are able to properly facilitate it well then why not. Again, I am referring to a simple structured corporate event and not orchestrating a grandiose affair such as Fashion Week or the BBC Music Awards. :-)
However, events require more than detail planning but liability coverage, security and safety measures, stage and sound equipment requirements, etc. Instead of saving the extra currency as some would rather do it could end up costing you more by a lawsuit or worse a damaged company reputation for something that could have been prevented if something should go awry.
All the best,

A truly wise man once told me, “You get what you pay for” I apply a variation of this to everything I do. Though certainly not as eloquent or as learned in the realm as Ms Aquinaga I offer this explanation. The best DIY move you can make is to research the professionals, sit back, relax, and accept most of the credit!
Cheers,
B Ivy
