WASH, D.C....The Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) announces the appointment of Jan Friis to the position of Vice President for Government Affairs, effective May 1, 2006. Mr. Friis will oversee and manage federal and state policy issues related to accreditation and quality assurance and will represent CHEA’s positions to Congress and the U.S. Department of Education, among other responsibilities.
CHEA is the nation’s largest institutional higher education membership organization, with 3,000 colleges and universities. It is a private, nonprofit national organization that coordinates accreditation activity in the U.S.
Mr. Friis comes to CHEA with twenty years experience in government relations. He was previously Director, Congressional Relations and later Vice President for Final Analysis Communications Services, Inc. He has also held the post of Chief of Staff for U.S. Representative Jon Fox and has helped coordinate numerous Congressional campaigns for three Congressmen.
