    Hello & Question
    Hi,

my name is Juergen BONATH, I'm working as a psychological consultant serving enterprises and organisations.
One of my major (private and may be professional) interests is to push the idea of the desertec project and to support the idea of solarthermal power in general.
Related to this I have one very specific question, I hope some of you may be able to answer.

In the usual comparisons between fossil fired power plants and solarthermal power plants the efficiency-rate is one of the most relevant variables in evaluation - technically and financially.
As far as I know, this variable EXCLUDES the costs of transportation of the fossil fuel (coal, gas, oil) to the power plant. Not to talk about the energy footprint of this.

Now here comes my question: Does anyone of you have any reliable information about the costs of transportation of fossil fuel (in average)? E.g. What are the costs of transportation of 1 t coal to a powerplant (including necessary treatments like e.g. coal liquifaction)?

Such information may deliver additional arguments with respect to the discussion on power transmission etc.

    Thanks for your answers!

    Kind regards,
    Juergen
