    Jain Living : Michchhami Dukkadam
    Greetings,

I learnt some more about Jain Living ( through Jain vegans on Yahoo also during my recent visit to Mumbai ).

Interesting Indians were celeberating 3-4 different religious festivals & i found below close to heart. they asked for forgiveness to fellow humans.

IMO, one of the most beautiful aspects of Jainism is Pratikraman. i see it as a built-in, systematic way for us to purposefully reflect on who we are, what we do, and how we can do better. it's deeply humbling since we ask all others for forgiveness, AND also forgive. Samvatsari Pratikraman during Paryusan is a perfect time to make changes in our lives, again as an integral part of Jain practice. this is one reason that i think the 'power of Pratikraman' has to be included in any message of change within the Jain community, including the way of veganism.

the following wonderful quote is attributed to Chitrabhanuji as advisor and guide on this special project. please feel free to share with others if you deem appropriate.

"In the western world, the best way Jains today can stand for Ahinsa, and give even greater blessings to the world we share, is by relinquishing our consumption and use of milk, dairy products, and all other products from animals. We must refrain from food that comes from suffering and violence, and then that suffering will not come back to us like a boomerang - the universal law of cause and effect from which there is no escape. In this way, Jains can continue to be at the forefront of Ahinsa, each of us showing great compassion and unconditional love. For Paryusan, let us start walking this noble path."

i hope that each of you is having a truly introspective and meaningful Paryusan, or upcoming Das Lakshan, towards greater Ahinsak change.

Michchhami Dukkadam - i sincerely ask forgiveness for my hinsa and freely forgive.

Metta ~ Peace, Harmony, Joy in this world for all.
