    Hello all,

do you know the IAF (International Association of Facilitators)? Is this organization well-known in the training field in the US, or even worldwide? How should I understand the CPF (Certificated Professional Facilitator) provided by IAF comparing to the Trainer the Trainer qualification in Germany for instance.

    Thanks for your help.

you can see the core competencies on the IAF Homepage (http://www.iaf-world.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageid=3331). I am Member of the IAF and compared to others it is a relatively young organization (around 10 years). It has members in more than 60 countries. (you can see the history of the IAF here: http://www.iaf-world.org/i4a/pages/Index.cfm?pageid=3267)
A colleague of mine was responsible for the last years European Conference of the IAF in Germany - if you want to know more please have a lokk on our homepage (http://www.kommunikationslotsen.de) or give him a call.

For me the main difference between a trainer and a facilitator is the mind set - a Trainer brings across knowledge - a facilitator eases the way for a group that has all the know how for an upcoming decision but needs room for developing this decision (this is just an example to illustrate). A good trainer creates a positive learning environment - a facilitator is the choreographer of group processes, interactions etc., while leaving the responsibility for the outcome to the group.

    Thanks for your help.
