Hello everybody:-)
The defining of business story of 2008 has been the global economic downturn, the worst since the depression of the 1930s. From multinational investment banks to small businesses, no sector of the economy has been immune from the market uncertainty.
But what does the financial crisis mean for the business of climate change? For some economists, such as Lord Nicholas Stern, it is an unprecedented opportunity to transform the global economic system from high carbon and environmentally unfriendly to low carbon and sustainable. "Green growth," he says, "could lay the foundations of growth for the future."
You may wish to take a look at
http://www.ft.com/climatechangeseries on the risks and opportunities for business: for some, such as the insurance industry, a warming planet that leads to more severe weather patterns could mean a big rise in claims; for others, such as venture capitalists, the potential growth of the clean-technology sector is an investment not to be missed. Interesting indeed..
