    Why Paris Hilton is Famous
    I just came across this blog post about Paris' Hilton strategy to become famous, and stay famous

    http://chartreuse.wordpress.com/2006/09/18/why-paris-hilton-...

    The author observes that Hilton secret is "paying attention to others, so they pay attention to her".

    In interviews she rarely talks about herself, in stead she mentions the designers that make her clothes and the clubs she goes to - without a pre-struck deal.

    When she started doing that the people who she mentioned noticed and started seeing & valuing her for the walking billboard that she is.

    Like the blogger writes: "She's actually a platform. Like Digg and YouTube."

    She's a platform that gives things for free, because she's confident there will be a return somehow.

    You can choose to call it 'PR2.0'or you can call it 'Godfather Marketing', but one thing is clear;
    it is one hell of a smart way to create value

    mmmm ? that's a difficult one...

    Heiress to a billion dollar fortune..?

    Appeared in a globally web released blue movie?

    Spending millions on PR?

    Shall we look at the clues???

    Best wishes,

    sure, plenty of clues, Paris has got a lot going for her and she didn't invent wheel, but that doesn't mean you can't admire the execution

    Not everyone in her position would be making the same choices

    To fall back on one of the old football metaphors;
    Romario was born with a magnificent football talent - so you could say it was all a piece of cake for him - but people around the world were still thrilled by the way he scored his goals

    I think we have to agree to disagree Jan,

    All the arguments in the world will never convince me that Paris Hilton has any talent, or that she is relevant in any way shape or form. Nothing she does contributes to the good of anyone but the "Paris Hilton" machine.

    If she was not around tomorrow...no one would notice!

    Best wishes,

    Michael

    I'd tend to agree with Michael and Joost on this one. Paris may have some strategy but it's probably not of her own creation. We gawk at a billionaire who is decent looking and would lead such a lifestyle. Is she famous or infamous? If I were Mr. Hilton I certainly would not be proud of her antics– even if someone tried to sell me the idea that they were a marketing strategy for the PH Brand.

    On the other hand, I do subscribe to Zig Ziglar's mantra: "If you want to get what you want– you just have to help enough other people get what they want." I'll do lots of favors for free in the hopes that someday they may be returned. What is there to lose? Maybe some time, money, whatever... I think it is worth it and that favor with others beats selfishness any day. Paris, please go away!
