WHY is it so much harder to rent apartment in Sweden - what to do and the reason demystified
    1) what to try (sometimes works):
For second-hand renting (mostly short term) you find apartments and villas for rent on this multi-lingual unique FREE to use site:
    http://www.locationpartners.com/lazybee/
tip: create a free ad of what you're looking for and get emails when matching apartments/villas come in etc

    good luck!

    2) WHY

    Renting a home in Sweden:

Based on my experience of having worked in this market for over six years (first with real estate corporate finance then as a management consultant with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, then as an IT entrepreneur in real estate; especially rentals), I have concluded that the socialist politicians (yes they've been in power for 60 years with only a few years exception!) are to blame. I'm so frustrated with them that I've written a story in Swedish about it. Read it here : http://www.cederholm.net/Pomperipossas_Hyresmarknad.htm

    Mystic trust in authorities
I guess from my short expierience is that all is a matter of trust.

In other countries (cities) the lenting situation is kind of the same however the solution is totally different.

In Paris or london you rent your apprtment form private pot private. This seems to be totally utopic in Sweden.
I was guessing that this due to the fact that Sweds have more trust in their institutions politicans and agencies taht in a fellow human.

So an option ... make your employer sign the lenting contract.... you still pay the rent. But at least this seems to be a trustworthy situation.

    This however is mystic enough.

Is there another reason? Let us Know

    Best regards
