REEL Opportunity For Film Artists As Deadline Approaches
Film artists interested in applying for the Arts Council Reel Arts Scheme should do so before the deadline on Wednesday 5 November 2008.

The Arts Council launched the scheme at the beginning of October with the aim of providing film artists with an opportunity to make highly creative and imaginative documentaries on an artistic theme.

The scheme is operated in association with Filmbase and the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, and will support three film projects with a grant of up to €80,000 each. The scheme provides artists with the fantastic publicity opportunity; films will be made for theatrical exhibition, and will be premiered at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival in February 2010.

Reel Art replaces the Arts Council’s Documenting the Arts scheme, and hopes to complement rather than replicate its aims and successes, as well as documentary programmes from other Irish funding agencies.

The new scheme aims to support visually exciting and imaginative film projects that explore the arts in new and innovative ways. Proposals that offer a creative and filmic interpretation of their subject are encouraged. Visit the Reel Art website for more information.
