Bid to save 600 SR Technics jobs fail

Efforts to save jobs at aircraft maintenance firm, SR Technics, have failed and 600 staff were officially laid off this afternoon.

SR Technics plans to let go a further 100 employees later this month.
IDA Ireland is till in talks with an unnamed company that has expressed an interest in buying some of the firm.

Reports say that up to four firms are interested in taking on some or all of SR Technics operations.

A spokesperson for the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment described the four proposals as 'firm bids' from 'serious players'.
