    Job Initiative 2011
    The Jobs Initiative 2011 was launched by the Government yesterday and below are main points from it:

    * 13.5% VAT rate reduced to 9% from 01/07/11-31/12/13 to include restaurants,catering, hotels, ent. facilities such as cinemas, theatres, hairdressing, printed matter such as newspapers and brochures

    *air travel tax to be reduced to zero on a date to be specified and conditions attaching to this reduction

    * Employers lower rate of PRSI to be halved from 01/07/2011 for those earning up to €356 per week

    * Minimum wage will be restored to €8.65 from 01 July 2011

    *National Internship scheme will be offering 5000 places for 6-9 months in varying sectors at €50 p.w. on top of existing social welfare entitlements

    * €30m for schools for summer works scheme 2011

    * €60m for roads

    * 0.6% levy on assets in pension funds over the next 4 years

    There are a couple of iniatives planned to aid availability of finance to the small business, but the details relating to them will not be announced untill September and December respectively.
