Greater IBM GroupPRO ---TEST---

Greater IBM's October line-up packed with more of what you asked us for

October 2009 brings an autumn bounty of useful and exciting events and information to the Greater IBM Connection. Your options include learning about information on demand, finding out how to steer a job conversation your way, and a guided tour at what’s on the minds of today’s CIOs. And that’s just for starters.

We started with our regular Tips and Tools Web and audio call – packed with useful information on making the most of your Greater IBM networking experience.
  • On October 15, Molly Wendell brings the third in her popular Career OnTrack Webinar series, where she'll share what she's learned that can enhance your job search by the way you handle a job conversation – while avoiding some opportunity-ending mistakes. Molly is president of Executives Network and a Greater IBMer.
  • The CIO continues to play a pivotal leadership role and we invite you to attend the Webinar led by Peter J. Korsten Peter, the global leader of the IBM Institute for Business Value, the business "think tank" of IBM, will take you on a guided tour of what IBM learned from interviewing 2500 CIOs representing 75 countries and 15 industries. Listen to "The New Voice of the CIO" October 22.
  • There's a special discount for IBM alumni at the IBM Information on Demand Global Conference in Las Vegas, Oct. 25-29. As a former IBMer (not available to current IBM employees), we'll tell you how you can receive the Greater IBM $300 conference discount.
  • Don’t miss the chance to be part of the movement to make the world’s cities smarter. Smarter Cities Scan lets you add input: what you’d like to see, what works, what could work better.
  • Another headline topic, healthcare was the subject when IBM’s president and CEO Sam Palmisano spoke to a leadership conference in Cleveland about what needs to be done to fix a healthcare system that isn’t really a system at all.
  • And Sam was in Washington early this month for another reason. He was there to accept the Technology Medal from President Obama on behalf of IBM, the only company to be so recognized for 2008.

Of course, these are only some of the highlights for this month, so visit the Greater IBM Community Site regularly for more news and events.
