German Remuneration Survey (GRS) - An Initiative by a Number of German Biotechnology Companies
1999 a number of biotechnology companies started a remuneration survey on their own initiative, which survey has since been carried out very successfully every year, together with a remuneration expert from the USA. This remuneration survey is custom-tailored to the requirements of the biotech industry and has led to an intensive cooperation between the Heads of HR of the participating companies.
What is special about this comprehensive analysis is that:
1. It has been enhanced and continually complemented by new positions in step with the growth and the change of the companies.
2. We are thus provided with information with exactly such an amount of detail as required for paying our employees remunerations that are in line with the market.
3. A valuable network of participants has developed that is used frequently and in many ways and
4. each participant values or has come to value the trustful cooperation in the course of the years.
The founding companies still take part in this survey every year. The total number of participants varies between 17 and 25, due to the partially difficult economic situation of the companies.
We are looking for new participants to join the survey and to join this network.
The conditions for participation are equal for all participants, no matter if they are "old hands" or "newcomers":
1. Only companies of the biotechnology industry can participate. Service providers, head hunters, consultants or the like are not admitted under any circumstance.
2. The company has to employ staff in Germany, the size of the company and the number of employees does not play a decisive role.
3. The data are the exclusive property of the participating companies and may not be sold. They must not be passed on to any other companies and must not be published. Noncompliance leads to the immediate, permanent exclusion of the offending company.
Another important requirement for participation is that the new member is proposed by one of the current survey participants. This means that this survey participant checks and makes sure that the new member fulfills the criteria stated above and commits itself to the exclusively internal use of the data by signing a non-disclosure agreement.
