Well being, competence and the environment are 3 pillars of 'a better city'
Competence comes from Finland's strategic choice to build its society on lifelong learning, research, innovation and creativity. The abundant investments made by the public and private sectors are a testimony to the effectiveness of that strategy. The state, universities and businesses work in close co-operation and Finnish public-private partnership is widely recognized. International co-operation and mobility extend our expert networks.
The backbone of Finnish know-how is engineering. More than 70% of Finnish CEO's have an engineering degree. This expertise can, for example, connect people into an information society, as Nokia has done, or move people safely and energy-efficiently like Kone. A major hub of Finnish engineering and business knowledge is the Greater Helsinki area. It sits at a crossroad between East and West, with huge markets on all sides. Helsinki has excellent air connections to Asia and is thus an ideal entry point to Europe for Asian companies.
