Emeline Schindler(not a XING member)YouTube and You too! Using Viral Video in Recruiting
This is an eBriefing from a webcast HCI did a couple months ago:

"Here's some trivia for the day: according to YouTube, ten hours of video is uploaded to their site every minute. Their user base is broad - spanning ages 18 - 55, evenly distributed between the sexes, located in 19 countries, and speaking over 13 different languages. Oh, and did we mention it’s free? Why should this matter to talent acquisition professionals? Check your recruiting budget. Is there room on the balance sheet for free? Now go look at the latest report from your career site. How many unique visitors did you have today?
YouTube and other video sharing websites offer a terrific package for hiring organizations - a worldwide recognized delivery vehicle and a cost everyone can approve. What's the trick to getting noticed? Make your video funny, controversial or innovative - maybe even all of the above.
Online video usage continues to grow. The growth has been fueled not only by users sitting at home or in the office but also by the use of mobile devices, such as Blackberrys and iPhones. Almost half of Internet traffic is predicted to be video related by 2012 – a bandwagon that smart recruiters can jump on now. Where are people watching online video? Google and YouTube combine for 55% of views.
How are they watching? A 2008 survey by Deloitte Development and Harrison Group revealed that of those who watch online video daily or almost daily, 26% of Gen Y and Gen X watched on their mobile phones; 18% and 13% respectively watched on other handheld devices."
With these statistics, how could viral video recruiting be useful? Have you used these methods or similar ones? What were your experiences?
