  You are cordially invited to attend The Hunger Project’s gala 30th anniversary celebration at the New York Hilton Hotel on Saturday night, 13 October 2007. Please make plans now to join more than 1000 diplomats, dignitaries and Hunger Project partners from 30 countries around the world to celebrate our groundbreaking results so far.
  
  As Joan Holmes, president of The Hunger Project, said in an announcement call for the event, “It is an acknowledgment of what’s being accomplished and how we’re positioned to accomplish even more for the future.”
  
  During the gala dinner program, we will get to hear from representatives of this cadre of leadership:
  
  An African woman food farmer who has created a women-owned, women-run rural bank
  
  A “barefoot researcher” from Bangladesh who investigates poverty in the researcher’s village, assesses situations and creates solutions for people to have better lives.
  
  A trained panchayat woman leader from India, who mobilizes her community to meet basic needs and now leads a statewide federation of women leaders.
  
  A people’s reporter from Bolivia who empowers indigenous people’s participation as full citizens of their country.
