The Hunger Project UK requests the pleasure of your company at a special gala Black Tie fundraising event on
Friday, 12 September 2008 7:00 – 11:30pm in the Orangery at Blenheim Palace, Woodstock, Oxfordshire.
The Hunger Project has always believed that the world produces enough food for everyone. The world community already possesses the financial and technical resources necessary to end hunger and extreme poverty.
The current “World Food Crisis” is not caused by absolute scarcity of food. Rather, hungry people owe their predicament to the distorted nature of global trade and deeply entrenched social conditions, which systematically deny them an opportunity to build productive and self-reliant lives. For example, India, a net exporter of food, is forecasting a record cereal harvest in 2008, yet its child malnutrition rate is nearly double that of sub-Saharan Africa.
You are cordially invited to find out how, in the current situation of increased world demand for food, empowerment of hungry people, and especially women, provides them with a unique opportunity to contribute to the global economy and food security.
In the midst of uncertainty, the credit crunch, rising prices and a global economic slowdown, your attendance and support will play a decisive role in encouraging our partners in the developing world to overcome their resignation and seize the opportunity.

We are looking forward to welcoming you at the event.
