Dear friends,
you have read in the news about the bombing attack to a small coffee house called "Germn Bakery" in the midtown of Pune.
I would like to share a letter that I received from our fellow Vikas whose office premises are just some minutes away from that gives a near witness view of the events.

The incident is indeed most unfortunate resulting in a loss of 9 precious lives and many more battling it out right now!!! The spot is just about a few hundred meters away from our office and too close for comfort. Infact I was approaching the exact blast site and it happened just a 3-4 minutes before I reached there (I got stuck in a traffic jam just a few blocks before the site) not knowing what had happened. It was chilling, no doubt.
Hope this madness ends soon. You can check
http://www.ndtv.com or
http://www.thetimesofindia.com for authentic news/reports. The place is called German Bakery but it has no connection with Germany as such; it so happens that the owners of the establishment had a good German friend, and in 1988 when they were planning to start off this outlet, their German friend suggested to name the outlet differently – and the owners decided to call it German Bakery as a tribute to their friend. The outlet is less than 100 meters from the Osho Commune ("Bhagwan") headquarters, and was frequented by a lot of foreigners; it was also a favorite with youngsters who would like to hang around. The outlet was also in a way a little notorious with a view that drugs were rampantly used/available out there.
The Jewish Synagogue is also a few blocks away from the blast site, but adequate security is provided to that place due to past threats and considering what happened in Mumbai in 2008.
