Hi All,
First I have to apologize to all of you for n ot keeping this group really active!
Second I realized I did not even introduce myself here
So here we go, I'm an Austrian national, born and grew up in Munich (Germany), as I never really lived in Austria I never felt very national at all. After studies and apprenticeship in economics and tax consulting I started working in a tax consulting company and later became financial controller of a company in the environmental technology sector.
My first visits to Indonesia in 1997 brought me to Lombok and Sulawesi and I enjoyed the underdeveloped and intact environments.
In 1999 I was stopping over in Bali as on my other trips and met an American who was planning to open a gym in Bali, excited by the opportunity to have some sort of business base in Indonesia I decided to join him as a small share holder.
In end 1999 the company I was working for in Germany declared bancruptcy and I decided to move to Bali for a new challenge.
I finally had my backpack filled up and USD 3,000 and left Germany.
I arrived in April 2000 and since than I love Bali and Indonesia as my new home.
Even so it was a very tough time in the first years with business not doing well, and a lot of of other challenges I was lucky enough to have found my love just one month after my arrival here and she has been the foundation to keep me going.
I very much enjoy developing new ideas and in Bali inspiration is just everywhere, so there is so much to do with so little time.
Now I'm a commissioner for one of Bali's high end real estate developers, the gym is still running well with new partners, I also have a small consulting company dedicated as basis of my vision to create an Indonesian Sustainable Development Fund.
Full details of my business and social involvements are on my profile page.
I think I have excellent business ethics and a committment towards sustainability and our planet, as a person we all make mistakes and I have been through a lot of them, and I apologize to all the people I might have hurt, especially the one I love most. But I have also learned from it and become a more responsible individual trying to overcome my own ego and to contribute to a more sustainable world in my own little means.
I'm excited to discuss questions on all subjects related to sustainability, Indonesia, environment and social entrepreneurship.
Kind wishes
Chris
