    Group newsletter: 1,000 Member Challenge
    Dear Group Members,

    On the 22nd of April is Earth Day, so I decided to hit you all up to do something :)

    If we reach 1,000 members by the 22nd of April I will donate 1 tree each to be planted in one of our sites in Bali.

    So if we reach 1,000 members before 22nd of April I will donate 100 trees, if we reach 1,001 than 101 trees,and so on, so say 1,055 I have to come up with 155 trees. Start the count at 900 members as of today!!!

    The actual planting will depend on the rain, as we plant in our projects so the trees actually have a good chance for survival.

    This will be a personal donation from myself, while I also will try to get some of the businesses I'm involved in to follow through as well and maybe also see if we get others on board to bring numbers up.

    The trees will be officially planted under http://www.pattfoundation.org which I represent voluntarily in Indonesia. and we will have a final report posted on the website after planting took place.

    Normally we would need at least 1,000 trees for a small project, but we might get there and if not we will proceed accordingly even with an higher overhead.

    If any of you would like to contribute actual trees, the cost is USD 4/tree which includes seedling, carbon offset certificate, planting, monitoring, replacement.

    It sounds quite a lot, but we are planting non commercial trees for ceremonial purposes and biodiversity, not timber trees for paper or furniture use :) the projects have a high level of community involvement and need a lot of follow up and monitoring.

    I think this is a good motivation making me pay and do something good, so I hope you all get me to pay more by bringing up the numbers.

    Nice idea Chris. I like it. Maybe you should also offer to plant the trees yourself ;-)

    Hi Florian, thanks!

    Actually we use the local villagers for planting and pay them as part of the package, so its much better, they see benefits from the start planting and protecting the trees, plus long term...some started their own nurseries and we now purchase directly from them :)

    Re next meeting, I will do one if we at least get 20 people to show up, another challenge, hahaha
