    film
Yesterday evening we saw the European premiere in the NAI - the Netherlands Institute of Architecture in Rotterdam - of a wonderful film; Koolhaas House Life , by Ila Beka and Louis Lemoine. The film is about the Maison a Bordeaux; a famous house by architect Rem Koolhaas (OMA-Architects) , made in 1998 for a disabled man who is bound by his wheelchair and uses a vertically moving platform to access all levels of the house. The film however is not the average nice-pictures-film like many others.
The visitor is ´guided´ by the housekeeper Guadeloupe Acedo who gives her opinion on the house etc. with great irony and humor which provides a great and very different insight to housing and architecture and therefore should be seen by everybody interested in the subject. At the moment I do not know whether the film is available on dvd.
It is also the first of a series of films: Living Architectures, which will be expanded with films on houses etc. of Herzog & de Meuron and Richard Meyer. (see: http://www.bekafilms.it.)
