Dear Colleagues,
My name is Sarkis Knyazyan. I am the managing partner of Knyazyan & Partners IP Law Firm in Armenia and the Acting Director of newly established Intellectual Property Rights Center of Armenia (

Starting from 2009 I was trying to explore the main reasons supporting piracy and counterfeiting in Armenia. After discovering those reasons I developed a Concept Paper on Reduction of Piracy and Counterfeiting Level in Armenia without actually fighting against it.
The main difference of this Paper is in the idea of elimination among the pirates and counterfeiters the incentive to engage in illegal business, by ensuring an opportunity for them to transfer into legal business and make the same or similar profit they are receiving from illegal businesses.
The paper begins with the discussion of main issues supporting the piracy and counterfeiting in Armenia and continuous with the definition of the objective and description of the proposed solution, in more details. Thereafter, it discusses the disadvantages, benefits and advantages of the proposed solution and concludes with the potential phases for successful implementation.
