IWConferencing Brings Together Green Experts and Tech Innovators to Discuss Environmentally Responsible Business Practices
Business and IT Managers Invited to Attend Free Web Seminar on Thursday, 3 May 2007 at 2pm GMT / 9am EST
VLAARDINGEN, LONDON, UK and CAMBRIDGE MA – April 26, 2007 – IWConferencing an Interwise Company, the global leader in unlimited voice, web and video conferencing for the enterprise, is hosting a free web seminar to help organisations become more confident that they are addressing their real Carbon Footprint. The ‘Reduce Your Carbon Footprint’ web seminar is designed to help businesses calculate and address the true cost of their operations’ environmental impact. It will include contributions from leading environmental experts and technology innovators from Swisscom, Switzerland's leading telecom company; Ecointesys Life Cycle Systems, a spin-off from the Federal Institute of Technology, Lausanne and The Polytechnic School of Montréal.
The seminar will explore all aspects of how businesses can measure and reduce their environmental impact by adopting alternative business practices and technologies that reduce negative environmental impacts such as carbon dioxide emissions. A key speaker at the event is Dr. Yves Loerincik, principal of Ecointesys Life Cycle Systems. Ecointesys is pioneering methodologies and tools that allow organisations to calculate the total life cycle impact of their products, services and business processes on the environment so they can become more environmentally responsible and regulatory compliant. Dr. Loerincik will discuss qualitative approaches for measuring energy usage, production costs and transportation, as well as how to include every element of the organisation for better overall environmental effectiveness.
“Education is crucial to this issue and this will be the overriding theme of the web seminar. Only by considering their businesses from a holistic standpoint, can executives make strong decisions about minimising their environmental impact,” said Loerincik.
“Business travel is a significant contributor to C02 emissions. Just one traveller flying from London to New York equates to more than 1,200kg of carbon dioxide,” said Tony Gasson, VP Europe, Interwise. “By educating their employees on CO2 reduction goals and giving them better tools that enable choices in alternatives to travel, organisations can drive CO2 reductions up, while also improving the bottom line.”
In 2006, IWConferencing helped its customers make significant carbon savings by lowering their employees’ travel by more than one million meetings.
