    How do you see the chance of Izmir to get 2014 Youth Olympics ?
    Six countries, including Turkiye have submitted preliminary bids to host the second Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2014, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) said.

    The OIC said in a statement posted on its website it received applications from China, Indonesia, Mexico, Morocco, Poland and Turkiye.

    China is proposing Nanjing as its candidate city, while Indonesia submitted Jakarta and Poland listed Poznan.

    The IOC extended the deadline to April 1 for the other countries to nominate their proposed host cities.

    Turkiye is expected to nominate the western city Izmir, which hosted the 2005 Summer Universiade and the 1971 Mediterranean Games.

    Submission of detailed bid files is due by Sept. 4. The IOC executive board will select a list of finalists in December, and the full IOC will choose the host city at its session in Vancouver in February 2010.

    The Youth Games will feature athletes aged 14-18.

    The Youth Olympics is a personal project of IOC president Jacques Rogge, who is seeking to combat youth obesity and encourage young people to participate in sport.

    The inaugural Youth Olympics will be held in Singapore in 2010, with the Austrian city of Innsbruck hosting the first Winter Youth Games in 2012.
