On october I will host a seminar on "Empowering business women in Japan" held by My Persson at Sophia University Community College in Yotsuya, Tokyo.
Interested women are very welcome to join.
PROGRAM
1. Introduction (Parissa Haghirian, October 16, 2010, 10:30 to 12:00)
What is gender equality and how does it affect us?
How do we define gender equality and what does this term mean for business women. Gender equality in daily life and work.
2. Gender equality (My Persson, October 16, 2010, 13:00 to 14:30)
Gender equality in Sweden and Japan.
How is it possible that the second largest economy in the world still lags behind many countries in the world when it comes to gender equality?
In this class I would like to explain how Japan and Sweden represent two different views on how the welfare state ought be organized - in terms of design and contents of social policy measures, tax legislation etc. and contents of social policy measures, tax legislation etc, and their effects on gender equality.
3. Empowerment (Womenomics) (My Persson, October 23, 2010, 10:30 to 12:00)
The 20th century saw the rise of women. The 21st century will witness the economic, political and social consequences of this development. Today women stand for most of the talent(54% of the university graduates across OECD countries are women),and most consumers too (women make 83% of consumer purchasing decisions in the US).In this class I would like to focus on why gender is a business issue, not a women issue and the connection between equality and profit.
4. Promoting gender equality at work-what you and companies can do!
(My Persson, October 23, 2010, 13:00 to 14:30)
This class focuses on the practical implication of gender issues in the workplace. Through the use of a case study I would like to give advice. tips and examples on what you and your companies can do in order to enhance gender equality at the workplace.
