Junior Chamber International (JCI)

What is JCI?
Junior Chamber International is a worldwide federation of young leaders and entrepreneurs with nearly a quarter of a million members and millions of alumni. It’s an organization in which leaders meet, learn and grow. [http://www.jci.cc]

How did we start?
In an effort to become more involved in civic issues, a young leader named Henry Giessenbier founded the Young Men’s Progressive Civic Association (YMPCA) in St. Louis, Missouri, USA, in 1915. In 1918, YMPCA became affiliated with the St. Louis Chamber of Commerce. In the 1920s, international networks sprouted in Canada and England and, by 1940, they extended to Latin America. In 1944, JCI was established in Mexico City, Mexico, with Raul Garcia Vidal as its first president.
