DSpace - what could that be?
    Hello everybody,

Searching for articles relevant to the field can be strenuous and time consuming (giving much muda;-().

Wouldn't you have experienced that your article you are looking for could only be found at a university library? That means you have to get in your car (or other transportion means) driive over their, fetch the article via the online-research tool at the library, put on your laptop or PDA and drive back home (this could be also done by someone whom you delegate, but the effect is the same).

    DSpace offers more:

    What is DSpace?
A groundbreaking digital repository system, DSpace captures, stores, indexes, preserves and redistributes an organization's research material in digital formats. Research institutions worldwide use DSpace for a variety of digital archiving needs -- from institutional repositories (IRs) to learning object repositories or electronic records management, and more.

Has anybody of you had already contact with it? What is the use at universities (especially in Germany)?

This looks like a LEAN WAY to ease the knowledge exchange in the world of universities and research institutes in order to get the job done. Even the use inside a company sounds promising.

What are your thoughts? What are the barriers for implementing?

    Looking forward to hearing more
