Dear all,
You might have noticed my humbling around other fields of interest that connect
in one or the other way with Lean Thinking and so I would like to share this quote
of Otto Scharmer (see
http://www.ottoscharmer.com for more background):
"...really? you think so? you really want to "seal the cracks"? see, thats where i think that all the great analogies with quantum physics and so forth sometimes lead us the wrong way. i do not believe in "sealing the cracks." that in my view is old thinking. while i agree that more concrete criteria and structures and so forth are needed, i also often experience this request as a misplaced concreteness. because the real issue is not another list of criteria. the real issue is not another substructure or this or that. the real issue is the CAPACITY OF THE HUMAN SYSTEM, individual and collective, TO BE PRESENT WITH AND TO OPERATE FROM THE OPENING OF THE CRACK. NOW. ..."
(taken from a currently ongoing conversation at the Presecing Institute Community; anybody interested in more on that please drop me a line)
Lean Thinking is not about using the tools to fix the small and visible cracks (even though this sounds reasonable and easy to achieve). What would be the future outcome of our actions?
What do we really would like to achieve and see become true in the world of business (and society in general)?
Cheers and best regards
Ralf
