Sometimes there are more important things, than delivering complicated course material to learners. Those who would like to include a simple slideshow with pictures or diagrams in their course, does not specifically want to use complex applications to do so. With the JPG slideshow activity from James Barrett one only needs to load their pictures to a specific folder in moodle and the tool dynamically generates a preview thumbnail and enlaged version for viewing.
The module may seem a bit trivial at first sight, but it represents a pragmatic and fast solution that is very easy to use. All the instructor needs to do is to add a slideshow activity into his course and load the desired pictures to the correct folder.
With a JPG slideshow the picture titles and their positioning can be configured and compressed to 60k (600x400px). It would be interesting to follow whether individualization of the stylesheets is possible in order to incorporate your own design. That would be surely be a great enhancement to the activity module.
