I deliberately set out to try to keep my digital art in its digital format, so for me virtual worlds were the ideal marketplace. I sold my work in worlds like Second Life, then the credit crunch started biting and people stopped spending. I moved out into the real world through my website, I also looked for artist forums on the web and started selling through local galleries.
But for me selling under license is really what I want, to be able to sell my work to industry for reproduction on a wide variety of products would give me a stable income so I wouldn't need to keep worrying where my next sale is coming from.
Whether its greetings cards, carpets, curtains, wallpaper, coffee mugs or mobile phone wallpaper it's all potential income.
