    Restorting Haiti's Cultural Heritage
    Dear Members,

    HAITI CULTURAL HERITAGE RESTORATION FUND (HCHRF)

    We, the African Council for Arts and Culture eV, are a registered Pan African Cultural Development Organization based in Germany.

    We have set up the Haiti Cultural Heritage Restoration Fund (HCHRF) to support the culturally active people of Haiti rebuild and use their tangible and intangible cultural assets destroyed by the earthquake of 12 January 2010.

    Haiti might have one of the weakest infrastructures on the Western Hemisphere but its arts and culture industry is one of the most vibrant in the world. It served as pressure valve for the Haitian creative class from all the strata of society, contributing positively to local social cohesion and peace in the midst of poverty and violence.

    Over 3 million Haitians have to henceforth live with the negative effects of the first worst disaster of this decade. One of the most effective ways of providing comfort to the survivors by helping them rebuild their cultural industry, lifestyles and dignity.

    The target beneficiaries of the Haiti Cultural Heritage Restoration Fund (HCHRF) are:

    A) Museums, Shrines and Monuments
    B) Cultural Centres and Schools
    C) Musicians and Performance Artistes
    D) Filmmakers
    F) Writers
    G) Fine Artistes
    H) Artisan Workers
    I) Medicinal Plants
    H) Community Eco and Cultural Tourism
    F) Other relevant stakeholders of the Haitian cultural industry

    Once the initial search and rescue operations needs are over, we will be operating our permanent project office from the southern coastal town of Jacmel, the de facto cultural capital of Haiti.
