Finding Music or Getting Heard and Global Networking
I'm excited to be part of this great group and look forward to meeting many of you over time.

I subtitled this article as: "What's Possible In The Music Industry", which I purposely decided to leave open as a question or a statement. I guess, because What's Possible In The Music Industry is really up to you. Your success is decided by WHAT you take on, as well as WHO you take on. The connections you make in the industry are obviously a big part of building your career and/or business. So what *is* possible in the music industry? Well, it's YOUR industry and much of that is, of course, up to you. How many people have you contacted today? How many for the very first time? Not only is it important to maintain and build on the relationships you already have, but you need to create new ones in order to continue to propel things forward.

I'm a big believer in the power of networking via the Internet. I have profiles on a number of sites: Xing, LinkedIn, Ryze, Biznik, MySpace, Meetup, and the company for which I'm just beginning to get word out in the United States, Music2Deal.com (but more about that in a moment). It's a big world out there - you never know who you might meet and what opportunities could come your way.

I'm head of development of the Music2Deal for the United States. It has already had a presence in many other countries (esp. Germany, where it was launched) and has a growing number of music industry user/members throughout the world. (Note: I'm currently building a sales team of music industry individuals with a skill/passion for networking.) Music2Deal is an exclusive networking community specifically designed for music industry professionals, and provides many unique ways to allow others to discover what you do. The site has a number of success stories, including bands that have received record deals and landed their music on TV and in film. If you join, don't be cheap. many sign up for free memberships but the free memberships don't allow for any "Title slots", which give you places (slots) on the Music2Deal site to promote individual songs and artists which are then searchable by visitors/members. And these title slots are then also able to be found by members using their "search agents". Check it out, explore, and see if it's for you.

I hope to make a lot of contacts here at Xing over the coming months, and intend, if time allows, to write new articles now and then in the future.
