    Re: DRAFT 2012 | Luck
    What controversy?
Andrew Luck quieted talk that Robert Griffin III deserves to be in the conversation for the No. 1 pick with a brilliant showing at Stanford's pro day.

Obviously we need wideout help, but the Niners should get TE Coby Fleener from Stanford @ #30 - he's better than any wideout they could get there - and he knows JH's system already.

He's 6-6, 245 and has a 40-time of 4.67 - imagine him on the field together w/ VD! Every DCs nightmare...
oh man, how I want this guy! I sure hope JH feels the same - Luck obviously does and showcased him during the Stanford Pro Day:

Still, Luck was focused on more than just completing passes. He wanted to show how athletic his pass catchers were by throwing higher than normal.

In fact, Luck’s second-to-last throw to tight end Coby Fleener was his proudest moment of the day.

“I wanted to give him a chance to really jump up there and show his hops, his stretch, what he can do in the red zone,” Luck said with a smile. “I’m secretly very proud of putting it in the right spot.”

We sure could use a receiver who can catch high balls considering our esteemed QB is back ;-)

The workout was also televised on multiple networks and had former 49ers quarterbacks turned ESPN analysts Steve Young and Trent Dilfer salivating on-air over Luck’s skill set.

he he, I'm salivating over the idea of having Vernon and Coby on the field together w/ Moss and Manningham on deep routes...

    Coby's 40-time was 4.45 - I guess that means he won't last until 30 :-(

At 6-foot-6 and 250 pounds, Fleener’s blend of size and wheels suggests he could join the likes of New England’s Rob Gronkowski (6-6, 265) and New Orleans’ Jimmy Graham (6-6, 260), who overwhelmed defenses in 2011. Gronkowski set NFL single-season records for touchdowns (17) and yards (1,327) by a tight end. Graham’s 1,310 yards rank second all-time.

Fleener acknowledged he’s entering the draft at an opportune time.

“I’m very thankful for Gronkowskis and the Jimmy Grahams of the world,” Fleener said. “What they’ve done over the past couple years, it’s helped out the tight-end draft class.”
