Mike TheobaldThe company name is only visible to registered members. It's Christmas today!
...at least for us Niners fans: Iron Mike and Jimmy Raye made us an early xmas present today and FINALLY ran the spread out of the gate!!! I take back my remarks about Sing being stubborn - he isn't! He only should have done that much earlier in the season...
The results were fantastic! #11 looked good for the first time in a whole game (even though he had 3 near picks, but luck was on our side today) - it's really a problem for opposing teams to cover VD, Crabtree, Morgan, Hill and Frank in the spread - one of them is always gonna make a play. The O-Line didn't allow a sack, which is not really a surprise if your QB is in the gun all the time and gets rid of the ball fast with enough targets to choose from...
Crabtree had a few great catches and good YAC-yardage, but missed 2 catches he should have made...
The D stepped up again, too and had 2 retrieved Garrard-fumbles in the redzone (one on 4th & 2) as well as 6 sacks on him - 3 in his last drive alone. Another first: the Niners got the ball back 19 secs before the 2 minute warning and let the clock run out WCO style - not with dumb runs through the middle into a wall. Wow!!!
Oh, and btw, Sing went for it on 4th &2 - I was already closing my eyes expecting another missed run, and what happens? Play-action, Smith rolls out left and throws a bomb to VD - 30 yrds w/ YAC!
The TD from Smith on the run and under immense pressure to Frank in the corner of the endzone with his toes millimeters away from the line was unbelievable and one of the best I've seen in the NFL this year (and I saw them all, bc I subscribe to RedZone). The real beauty of this thing is, that he waited until the complete secondary was in his face and then just lobbed it over their heads to Frank - who was one-on-one on the lone remaining safety :-)
Result: Niners - Jax 20-3 - and we are 5-6 and in the run again: the Cards lost in the last second against the Titans (Young converted three 4th downs on that 99 yrd drive) - and they'll play the Vikes next week and then come to the 'Stick :-)
The Bolts had an impressive win, too, so it was a great day. Now watching PIT-BAL to warm up for MNF - that'll be a killer...
Congrats to all Colts fans: 11-0 and already clinched the division.
EDIT:
Whheeeeewww! Another Steelers loss - this one in OT bc of a Dixon pick...
