How can I become a more effective decision maker?
Making decisions is the most important job of any executive. It’s also the toughest and the riskiest. Bad decisions can damage a business and a career.

Tendencies to stick with the status quo!

To look for evidence confirming one’s preferences!

It’s hard to admit making a mistake!

Most businesspeople treat decision making as an event. whether they’re sitting at a desk, moderating a meeting, or staring at a spreadsheet.

Decision making is not an event. It’s a process, one that unfolds over weeks, months, or even years.

This classic- popping out of a leader’s head, based on experience, gut, research, or all three.

Whatever the outcome may be, there is no room for regret after making a decision.

IMO, decisions should arise from both experience and research - idea's popping out of a leader's head still require backing, which ultimately points to these two factors.

Since usually action has no guarantee and you would by no means know that your decision would be incorrect until you have made it, then you might as well take the risk and decide.

It is definitely better than keeping you in limbo...........

Do what you have to. Even after pondering over the decision we do have to either AYE or NAY, so why not take as it comes citing the immediate positive outcomes.

    Cheers
