THe Dangers of Mercury
Are you a fan of Sushi? Most of the fish chosen for sushi contain high levels of Mercury, including swordfish, albacore tuna and shark.

I’m sure that you’ve already heard about mercury being the main ingredient in dental amalgams. I’ve had all of mine replaced. What about you?

Mercury in vaccines for babies and infants is the cause of a steep rise in cases of autism in children around the world, according to growing numbers of scientists.

Autism is a spectrum of disorders that range in severity from bizarre, violent behavior to an inability to
communicate or interact socially, along with repetitive patterns of behavior.

In the meantime, the number of mercury-laced vaccinations given to babies and children has increased
significantly, throughout the world. In the United States the number given before the age of two has risen
from 8 in 1980 to 22 last year. The increase in reports of autism in Britain, America and some other countries coincides with a growth in the number of inoculations given to young children, say the researchers. According to Evelyn Pringle writing for ConspiracyPlanet.com –

"On Feb 9, 2004, the National Autism Association issued a press release that reported on one of the
larger studies under review based on the Center for Disease Control's Vaccine Safety Datalink. Under
independent investigation, the Association reported, of the CDC's data children were found to be 27-times
more likely to develop autism after exposure to three thiomerosal-containing vaccines, than those who
receive thiomerosal-free versions.

--- "How do we know they had it for years? Because the staff for Rep Dan Burton (R-Ill) obtained an FDA
internal e-mail written on June 29, 1999, by former FDA scientist Peter Patriarca, that offered a "pros and
cons" assessment of the dishonest statement about Thiomerosal in vaccines that the FDA was about to
release, and described the questions that could be raised upon its release"

The FDA knew
In a recent Salon.com report entitled 'Deadly Immunity,' Robert F. Kennedy Jr. wrote -
--- "When a study revealed that mercury in childhood vaccines may have caused autism in thousands of
kids, the government rushed to conceal the data -- and to prevent parents from suing drug companies for
their role in the epidemic.

--- "In June 2000, a group of top government scientists and health officials gathered for a meeting at the
isolated Simpsonwood conference center in Norcross, Ga. Convened by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the meeting was held at this Methodist retreat center, nestled in wooded farmland next to the Chattahoochee River, to ensure complete secrecy.

--- "The agency had issued no public announcement of the session -- only private invitations to 52
attendees. There were high-level officials from the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration, the top
vaccine specialist from the World Health Organization in Geneva, and representatives of every major vaccine manufacturer, including GlaxoSmithKline, Merck, Wyeth and Aventis Pasteur. All of the scientific data under discussion, CDC officials repeatedly reminded the participants, was strictly "embargoed." There would be no making photocopies of documents, no taking papers with them when they left.

--- "The federal officials and industry representatives had assembled to discuss a disturbing new study
that raised alarming questions about the safety of a host of common childhood vaccines administered to
infants and young children.

--- "According to a CDC epidemiologist named Tom Verstraeten, who had analyzed the agency's
massive database containing the medical records of 100,000 children, a mercury-based preservative in the vaccines -- thiomerosal -- appeared to be responsible for a dramatic increase in autism and a host of other neurological disorders among children. "I was actually stunned by what I saw," Verstraeten told those assembled at Simpsonwood, citing the staggering number of earlier studies that indicate a link between thiomerosal and speech delays, attention-deficit disorder, hyperactivity and autism.

--- "Since 1991, when the CDC and the FDA had recommended that three additional vaccines laced with
the preservative be given to extremely young infants -- in one case, within hours of birth -- the estimated
number of cases of autism had increased fifteenfold, from one in every 2,500 children to one in 166 children."

Mercury Increased Profits
In 1997, Congress passed the FDA Modernization Act, which required the FDA to review all drugs that
contained mercury and determine their adverse effects
on humans. For many years, Thiomerosal, a mercury-based preservative, was added to childhood vaccines in multi-dose bottles, basically to increase profits for vaccine makers.

Thiomerosal is nearly 50% mercury, which is a known to be extremely harmful to fetuses, infants and
children. Beginning in 1987 and throughout the 1990s, it became the main source of mercury in infants and toddlers when the number of vaccines added to the national vaccine schedule nearly tripled.

In 2000, the FDA determined that a twelve-to-fourteen month old child, receiving vaccines required under the Immunization Schedule, often received four to six shots during one doctor visit. Consequently over time, the child would be injected with as much as 40 times the amount of mercury considered safe.

Mercury (also in dental amalgam fillings) is a highly toxic heavy metal, has been documented to cause
cancer, and can be absorbed through the digestive track, skin, and respiratory track. Mercury is 1,000 times more toxic than lead, and is second only to uranium as the most toxic metal. If children receive all recommended vaccines, they will receive 2,370 times the "allowable safe limit" for mercury in the first two years of life (as if there is such a thing as a "safe" amount of a toxic poison).

Yet, even after Congressional hearings instigated by Congressman Dan Burton (whose own grandchild
became autistic after receiving vaccines) resulted in the FDA requesting (not ordering) vaccine
manufacturers to remove this toxic heavy metal from their products, mercury is still present in many
vaccines.

Child Autism Increased 70 Fold

During the 1990s, as some 40 million children were vaccinated, drug company profits soared and there
should be no doubt that the companies knew about the dangers of Thiomerosal and put profits over the health of a whole generation of children: the LA Times obtained a 1991 internal memo from the drug company, Merck, that proves the company knew then that Thiomerosal in vaccines posed a serious health threat. The memo noted that 6-month-old children who received their shots on schedule would get a mercury dose up to 87 times higher than guidelines for the maximum daily consumption of mercury from fish.

In America, researchers found some infants who are being vaccinated using multidose vials with thiomersal can receive 62.5 micrograms of mercury per visit. This is 100 times more than the intake considered safe for the average six-month-old by the US Environmental Protection Agency.

In June 1999 the FDA discovered that: "Infants who receive thiomersal-containing vaccine at several visits may have been exposed to more mercury than recommended by Federal guidelines." The following month the European Agency for the Evaluation of Medicinal Products (EMEA) issued a statement saying:
"Cumulative exposure to ethyl-mercury [found in thiomersal] . . . could lead to a potential cause for concern."

In May last year, a scientist from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) gave a
presentation, based on a study of the Vaccine Safety Datalink Project - a database of 400,000 children – with evidence of harm. Dr Thomas Verstraeten of the CDC found the screening analysis suggests "statistically significant associations" between certain neurologic developmental disorders - such as attention deficit disorder, and speech and language disorders - and exposure to mercury from thiomersal-containing vaccines before the age of six months.

The corresponding increase in autism is concrete evidence of the link between autism and vaccines. Twenty years ago, autism only affected one in 10,000 children. The Autism Autoimmunity Project reports that the disorder strikes 1 in 150 (or 1 in 68 families) today. The FDA continues to allow manufacturers to include thiomerosal in scores of over-the-counter medications as well as steroids and injected collagen. Even more alarming, the government continues to ship vaccines preserved with thiomerosal to developing countries -- some of which are now experiencing a sudden explosion in autism rates. In China, where the disease was virtually unknown prior to the introduction of thiomerosal by U.S. drug manufacturers in 1999, news reports indicate that there are now more than 1.8 million autistics.

Although reliable numbers are hard to come by, autistic disorders also appear to be soaring in India,
Argentina, Nicaragua and other developing countries that are now using thiomerosal-laced vaccines. The
World Health Organization continues to insist thiomerosal is safe, but it promises to keep the possibility that it is linked to neurological disorders "under review."

Some critics harshly decree that the drug companies and the government officials involved in this vaccine
marketing scheme and the subsequent cover-up of the damage it caused need to be criminally charged and made to pay for their crimes. "The CDC is guilty of incompetence and gross negligence," says Mark Blaxill, vice president of Safe Minds, a nonprofit organization concerned about the role of mercury in medicines. "The damage caused by vaccine exposure is massive. It's bigger than asbestos, bigger than tobacco, bigger than anything you've ever seen."

The CDC and FDA policy decisions about matter such as approving vaccines for inclusion on the
immunization schedule are made by physician advisory boards whose members very often have strong
financial relationships with the very same pharmaceutical companies that they are supposed to regulate.
For example, during a congressional hearing on potential conflicts of interests at the FDA, it was revealed
that 60% of the advisory members who voted to approve the poisonous rotavirus vaccine had financial ties to the drug companies manufacturing the vaccine. The committee also found that 50% of the CDC members were tied to the rotavirus makers.

Concludes Kennedy in 'Deadly Immunity:
--- "It's hard to calculate the damage to our country -- and to the international efforts to eradicate
epidemic diseases -- if Third World nations come to believe that America's most heralded foreign-aid
initiative is poisoning their children. It's not difficult to predict how this scenario will be interpreted by
America's enemies abroad. The scientists and researchers -- many of them sincere, even idealistic -- who
are participating in efforts to hide the science on thiomerosal claim that they are trying to advance the lofty goal of protecting children in developing nations from disease pandemics. They are badly misguided. Their failure to come clean on thiomerosal will come back horribly to haunt our country and the world's poorest populations."

The children who were affected by this cover-up will require care and support for a lifetime. The lives of many of these children are destroyed. The costs for their care, left to their families, will reportedly exceed $2 million per child. If families are expected to trust the government's vaccine approval process, they have a right to demand that the vaccines are approved based on scientific research, without the undue influence of money passed out to politicians, scientists, and the heads of the regulatory agencies, by the pharmaceutical industry. The public needs to rise up and demand accountability from the officials in charge of all regulatory agencies involved in concealing information that could have saved many families from the devastation of these ill administered vaccines.

The CDC and FDA are serious institutions. I can not believe that they are involved volontarily and because of money or influence in such criminal acts. I would say that if there is/are proved implications of the agencies, these have to be imputed to some employees. ...

What do you all know about mercury and Candidiasis? I've been researching this yeast overgrowth problem for a while and am interested to learn more about it's relation to heavy metal toxicity.
